How to avoid disputes with tenants when they move out

If you’ve been a landlord for very long, you know that move-outs can be a common time for disputes to arise, especially if you had to use part of their deposit for maintenance, cleaning, etc.

These disputes can be avoided primarily in two ways:

  1. Absorb the costs and return the deposit to the tenant…
  2. Or thoroughly document the condition of the property before tenants move in, then hold them to that standard.
